What is it?

Apparatus Productions is the name of the Independent Media Production endeavor created and operated by Terry Geer out of exotic Cleveland, OH.

Apparatus, in short, is the sum of my experiences over the first 10 years of my adult life. Playing Punk-cover songs at summer camp in high school turned into writing songs of my own. Then in College I developed the desire to record some of those songs. I realized the college I was enrolled in offered an Audio Recording Program, and I decided there was no reason I couldn’t be good at it. Humble pie was served on many occasions by my instructor, Paul Hamann (Suma Recording) until I learned to be good at it.

Then I bought a bunch of gear and quit my job. Not long after that I got a new job, because almost all the bands I had lined up to record had broken up before my 2-weeks-notice was over at the old job. I went back to school and learned a thing or 2 about cameras, editing, filmmaking etc. Then I worked for some really great companies, getting a lot of invaluable corporate, professional experience doing completely unrelated work, but all the while adding sprockets & spur wheels to the Apparatus I love.

Voila. Here we are. I’ve learned to hone my craft, and my wife still likes me in spite of it all. I’ve gotten to shoot a lot of really awesome footage for some really great projects, record some downright raucous music, watch some projects gain recognition beyond what I expected, and made a lot of great friends in the thick of it all.

If you’re a band looking to record or promote for kickstarter, a business owner looking for promo or training material, or even just some guy or gal looking to document something in a fun and unconventional way, I would love to hear from you. Pretty much, if you want something made with a camera and/or microphones, chances are high that I will find a way to make it.
